Police used force to foil a peaceful sit-in by AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed outside SP office Handwara, who was seeking release of two innocent youth namely Irshad Ahmad Parra resident of Badrah and Ab. Rasheed resident of Ganapora Langate. Protesters led by Er. Rasheed gathered outside SP office Handwara and started anti-PSA and anti-Police slogans and were seeking immediate and unconditional release of two youth. However SP Handwara came out of his office along with a contingent of police and used force to disperse the mob resulting in sustaining of injuries to a number of protesters. Er Rasheed was thrashed, abused, humiliated and dragged to police station Handwara. Party Spokesman Adv Maajid Banday while condemning the incident, accused police and district administration of enforcing a jungle raj in entire Kashmir including Handwara and adjoining areas.(KNO)
